Dance Riviera's Kent based venue is in Crayford at the VCD Athletic Club. There are a few other venues which are slightly outside Kent - for full details visit the website. At Dance Riviera two styles of dancing are taught: smooth jive and west coast swing. Smooth Jive is a fusion between Salsa, Latin, Swing, Jive and dirty dancing! This means that it's Hot, Fun, Sexy, and Modern, but above all very easy to learn. West Coast Swing is the most stylish dance ever seen. It was created in America and is quickly growing in the UK. It requires some footwork so is more challenging than Smooth Jive.
The dancing evening starts at 8pm with the beginners lesson where you'll learn four steps and learn how to link them together. At 9pm it's time for the intermediate lesson and at this point, the beginners have the opportunity to practice their steps further with the wonderfully encouraging and brilliant Dance Riviera coaches. At 9.30pm, it's time to hit the floor for some free-style dancing where you can practice the moves you've learnt and learn a few more from the great coaches and more experienced dancers. All dance classes and free-style sessions are backed by a great DJ, playing a great selection of music - from years gone by to up-to-the minute chart music - all requests are welcome!
